Then I'm afraid there is an incompatibility, which is a common thing encountered in the Linux world.
It's why COS2 took so long to make. So many incompatibilities from COS1 which retired 10 years ago.
You know, you might have better luck trying to run the windows version through wine.
It wouldn't hurt to give it a try.

Thanks for all your help. I' will now transfer all my energy into figuring out how to use SyncTERM.
I've joined the Syncronet BBS Facebook group as of last night. Hopefully they have an already compiled .deb file I can use. I am fairly certain the tgz file needs to be compiled due to the very large number of C Source Code files in the directories. Hence the name of download being "Syncterm-16-src-tgz" src=source code
There is definitely NO .deb file in the extracted archive. I looked in each directory under /sbbs ...
