C64 Forever ROM Extraction NOT Broken

Post by LeoNigro »

Hi Everyone,

(EDIT: DISREGARD!! No changes are required.
It would seem the former installer download is still available for now, and for our purposes works 100%.)

A new version of C64 Forever has just been released. This brings it to version 11.

Due to the changes in the packaging that will undoubtedly have occurred it is unlikely that the automated msi ROM extractor will continue to work.
I will therefore be taking this functionality offline in the next online update to be released ASAP, until I have troubleshooted the issue.

If you retrieved the C64 ROMs via this process previously, rest assured that the C64 ROMs will continue to function.
Also, if you provided the ROMs yourself, from C64 Forever V10, you are unaffected.
This problem now only effects new automated C64 Forever 8-bit ROM extractions.

Incidentally a new version of Amiga Forever has also been released, but you've always been required to place these ROMs in the appropriate folder yourself.

I hope to do an overhaul of these functions in a subsequent online update.

Hi Leo,

First and foremost, THANK YOU for all of your work on COS 3. Overall it's freaking amazing. I do have a fully licensed and installed version of AF 11.0 on my primary WIndows box and know where the rom files are located. Is there a directory I should be copying these into on the COS3 machine (secondary computer - M100 mini) in order to have COS3 pick them up and be able to use them? I attempted to use the CommodoreOS Settings -> Emulation Settings -> Cloanto Rom install menu item, but option #1 (Cloanto Rom install - just brings me back to the Emulation Settings menu without any option to actually copy / install ROM files...

Any assistance you can provide in helping me get the AF rom set installed onto COS3 would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Kalarous (AKA Steve)

Leo,

Nvrmind - I got it sorted. A bit of a bear, but I got the ROMs working as expected. You've had your hands full... :)

Congratulations!

With the Commodore trademarks in place, what does that mean for ROMs?
Will we be able to get Commodore ROMs installed in COS, so we don't have to extract them and load them into COS?

No rush on any answers, I understand everyone is busy getting Commodore trademarks, etc.
I own a C64 and C128. I run a number of VirtualBox emulators VICE, X16, Mega 65, Commodore OS, Apple II, MacPlus, HP48SX, TRS80 Model 100, Amiga WinUAE.
My computer ownership path C64(1983)=>C128=>MacPlus=>IBMPC Clone 486/66=>(Many Windows PCs)=>
CommodoreOS v3.0(today).
Future=>Pre-Ordered a C64UFE!
