Good morning. So...the OS, which I would like to be in Italian, is unfortunately always in English, how can I set the system to Italian? And then... I bought a USB wifi to overcome the wifi problem, but the system doesn't recognize it and therefore it doesn't work! How can I install USB wifi drivers? Please help me. I try to reinstall the OS with the hope the system recognize the USB wifi, but no! If you know a script to install the driver of the USB wifi, tell me please!

I am really sorry you are having difficulty with your wifi.
Please understand that unfortunately, Linux, with 5% or less of the OS installed base is an afterthought for many of the device manufacturers.
Therefore care must be taken to purchase compatible components.
If it is not too late to return your dongle you might try searching the internet for a list of appropriate hardware.
For instance:

and then search to purchase the favoured model.

I have purchase a new usb wifi compatible with Linux, and now the wifi run! Still remane the problem of the italian lenguage of the system...any idea?

Good to hear your WiFi is sorted.

Did you try my suggestion for the language fix from the previous page:
sudo apt install locales-all

I haven't tested it.
Let me know how you go.

I wrote the command you suggested in the CLI, but it didn't change anything...

I had hoped the previous command I gave you would get it all to kick into action, but it's more complicated than that.

Your machine might seem to freeze whilst doing this. Let the Locale generation run to completion.
Sorry, I made it take longer by making you download all the locales.

I tried, but it doesn't give me the same result as it shows in the video. It didn't work for me...that is, it worked partially. In the sense that the CLI shows me the localization in Italian, but in any case the system remains in English! At the top I still wrote: "Applications" "Places" and "System"...even the date is "Fri Jan 5"...is there a way to have the OS in my language?!

Oh....I just realised that it will only effect the CLI and not the menus.


I'll look into the menu settings.

Finally, to change the language in the menu panels to Italian:
geany ~/.dmrc

and change the Language line
Language=it_IT.utf8

Save the file then reboot.

You'll be asked on reboot if you want to change your home folders to the desired language too.
At least I think that was what it was asking me. My Italian is a little rusty.
It complained a little after I did it, so do that at your own risk....

Edit: Linux doesn't rename physical folders like "Documents" and "Downloads" but creates new physical folders named based on your language.
The physical "Documents" and "Downloads" folders aren't deleted, as for some applications they are required.
You would have to navigate to those physical folders via the filesystem to access their contents.
