There's an option in the Commodore OS menu under the System menu (via the top menu).

No showstoppers so far, but I can't give an ETA just yet.
I might have to drop some new features I was working on because delivering sooner for compatibility takes precedence.
I can always get the rest in on an update later.
In fact it might be better that way as you wouldn't be forced to upgrade from COS2 to COS3 to get the new stuff which would work on either version.
Understand, i tried to dist-upgrade to current stable and ye, it exploded on a lot of places so getting a up to date system out with basic functionality i think is key.

Hey guys. Anyone tried the following? (Again MX-Linux to the rescue.)

Code: Select all

nvidia-detect-mx
If you get a message that claims your card is from the 340 legacy drivers series

Code: Select all

sudo apt install --install-recommends nvidia-legacy-340xx-driver
I assume if it says a different series you just change the number in the command above???? :?:
You might still get an error code but I've heard it works anyway.

EDIT: Having run this without an nvidia card I can no longer get Compiz working. I guess a COS2 re-install is in order.
EDIT2: "sudo apt remove glx-alternative-nvidia" rebooted and then went to MATE Tweak and selected the Compiz desktop again to fix.

Mine is a 3070 so no legacy drivers, also where is var folder? I'm getting an error when trying to revert back to original nouvou? driver. There was a problem with the apt-get update. See /var/log/ddm.log for details from using this command which was working "sudo ddm-mx -p nvidia"

Code: Select all

deb http://deb.debian.org/debian bullseye main contrib non-free
deb-src http://deb.debian.org/debian bullseye main contrib non-free
deb http://deb.debian.org/debian-security bullseye/updates main contrib non-free

There was a problem with the apt-get update. See /var/log/ddm.log for details

Press <Enter> to exit
:( looks like I will need to reinstall the OS or just stick to Windows

You can probably fix this using the top menu option
System --> Preferences --> Other --> Software & Updates

Navigate to the "Other Software" tab and add and remove duplicate sources using the buttons (or checkboxes?).

I was thinking of including this script in the next COS version to prevent such things from occurring. You can can give it a try now if you prefer.

Let us know how you go.

That worked thank you, seriously f*ck nvidia for this nightmare, the problem is it installs but the maximum screen you can use is 1024x768 but with nouveau I am able to go 3840x2160

Yeah, but it's probably going to be better at running 3D games(with CUDA) like those through Steam or using WINE.
I wonder if there there is a way to simply switch between the drivers?
Can you simply switch drivers by running nvidia-settings from the terminal?
