Commodore OS Vision Forum

So I've been enjoying COS 3.0 for a week. Here's what I've done with it.

First, I installed this on my daily driver Dell Latitude E6510. Everything works great -- sound, wifi, suspend, Nvidia graphics, and the docking station. I had to clean up some of the free Linux games unfortunately to make room for my data. Maybe later I'll move them to an external drive

Anyway, I've been spending lots of time enjoying Compiz again. I made some tweaks to suit my workflow. Everything has been laughs at the effects which work surprisingly smoothly on this old laptop.

Something I've wanted to do for a while is start some Commodore 64 game cross development. I was happy to see Vice an CC65 preinstalled, so I started writing some C. Now at the end of week 1 I have a rudimentary tic-tac-toe game. I figured I'd throw some money at Cloanto for the ROM license (I already have the AmigaForever ROMs) to keep testing with the "official" stuff.

My computer's fun again. What are you all doing with your new Commodore OS Vision installs?

Hello! I only recently found this system and, I am very impressed. I grew up with an Atari and a ZX Spectrum, but I've seen Commodore at friends' houses. I loved that time. Lots of great memories. Mx Linux I know very well and use on a daily basis, but Commodore Os only as time travel machines, which is amazing. Greetings from Poland!

Well i am using it to navigate and just do some normal stuff on it. Sometimes play on it but as for now i had some problems getting the emulator to work correctly for the Amiga and haven´t had a lot of time lately to play around with it so that's about it. I do love to see the old Compiz working out of the box. I really like it heh.

I'm also using it as my daily drive on my Panasonic Toughbook. CF-31 MK5.
Primarily it gets used as a work PC during the week, and with this installed, I get to play around whenever I get downtime besides just the weekends.

Personally, I really like all the thought that's been put into this. There are certainly a few quirks here and there, but overall - this is what I see as a great vision of a non-vintage hardware OS created for our modern day hardware.

Downtime I have been playing some games, playing with the new BASIC, and just generally enjoying my computer again!

I have been mostly using it for normal stuff at home, as a daily computer in my man-cave.

I have been using VS Code to do some python game making of a retro styled graphical text adventure game. Otherwise I browse a few forums, catch up on some news, etc... I am a retro gamer, and have messed with getting the emulation to work and have seemed to hit a wall a few fays ago where I can't run my own games... can run anything from Cloanto in the ROM transfer - I might mess around with that more this weekend and see if I can figure out what I am doing wrong.

Love the OS, and super excited to see what happens with the Commodore brand... just watched Part 2 of Perifractics video. The future is looking bright, and it's Commodore.
