Dock not at bottom of screen

Post by Iceman »

Since the HW is sold out I installed Commodore OS 2 on an older HP Elite laptop I have. Love the look and retro feel but the one thing that is not working is the dock it ends up tiny on the top half of the screen, it is not clickable and does not animate when I hover over it but I can see the icons changing as apps are launched. See attached screenshot. Any way to reconfigure that?

Woah, I hope it doesn't do that by default.

Can you right click on the dock?
There should be an option to Configure Cairo Dock.
Even configuring an icon will launch the settings manager.
Don't play around too much in there, especially with themes, or you'll not find your way back. I promise you I picked the best theme. ;)
If you can't get to the settings because the Configure option doesn't come up....it probably means Cairo is in locked mode.
Launch a terminal and launch the system monitor.
Kill cairo-dock in the System Monitor.
Relaunch the dock via the terminal with the command....
cairo-dock.
It should then be unlocked.

I lock it by default in COS3 to stop accidental reconfigurations like this, which I tend to perform.
Actually Cairo Dock is super buggy in COS3 crashing out all the time....but I hacked it to stay working mostly.

Right clicking on the dock?

If you're running 4k or a similarly high res with magnification, try running at a lower res to see if the problem resolves.

Confirming on v3 beta that this happened to me as well.

The reason the user above was unable to right click on the dock is that when you run a high resolution and scale to 200%, the dock appears to be in the top middle but that's a phantom- it is actually at the top right (you can see the animation responding when moving the mouse around the top right of the screen). Hence the person above was actually just right clicking on the screen.
