Rpi5?
The pi 5 has a heat sink, and fan. Does anyone know if they would fit under the keyboard? And are there any mini-ITX boards for the pi CM5? Anyone else have any thoughts about a pi5 C64x? Just spitballing a future project idea, could be kinda fun. I don't know a lot about Rpi's though. Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated.
Re: Rpi5?
CM5 has options for up to 16GB SDRAM and up to 64GB eMMC. Rasberry has a IO board for it, but its not mini-ITX. Maybe the C64x case could be modded to fit? There is a 6 module mini-ITX cluster board for CM4 but the m.2 slots are on the back, which does not fit the C64x case as I understand it. If we do get COS3 for the Pi, I think the higher memory CM5 could probably run it. Maybe with an eGPU. Would love to hear what everyone thinks. Fun project, or waste of time?
Re: Rpi5?
You should certainly explore cm5 and high spec pi options. I would be interested to see what you come up with.
I'm looking at the pi as more of a low-end/starter option for the C64x, for people who don't want to spend on PC hardware, or can't decide right now. A no-brainer add-on for those buying a barebones C64x.
I may have already mentioned on the site about my project to create a universal pi backplate for the C64x that can house most of the popular pi models and common extenders. It will also have an SD card extender to the rear where the traditional cartridge port would be.
If all goes well it could be available in a couple of months(maybe more) with Commodore OS Vision for pi.
At least I hope. I've got a lot going on right now.
Don't rush out and buy a pi4 though.
I have a collaboration with someone producing an enhanced pi4 with a killer feature that you may be kicking yourself.
I wouldn't stop you buying a pi5 or anything else though, but that killer feature is exclusively, and will only ever be, for this special edition pi4, that maybe will become a C64x purchasing option. Whilst not cutting edge, as pi4s get cheaper this may actually become a really attractive option, just because of the killer feature.

Owns: C64, C128D(Sidekick64), A500, A1000(piStorm),
C64x(i7 16Gb), C64x(Atom 4Gb), VIC-20x(N100 32Gb), C16x(Ryzen9 64gb), VIC-Slim(Atom 2Gb), VIC-Pro(Core Duo 4Gb)
Re: Rpi5?
I agree, Pi4 would make a very affordable C64x. My concern is storage. A hat with a Sata port maybe? Would a Pi hat fit in the case? I think Nvme would be overkill and add to the cost, which would defeat the purpose. Can't wait to see your exclusive feature. Thanks
