I also had trouble booting the 30+gb ISO! I first used image writer to burn a 64gb USB bu it was USB2 & took a very long time time to write. Well that failed, /dev/sr0 not found! I have a /dev/sr0 DVD which is too small for the image. I have Blue-Ray 25GB discs but at 30+GB that didn't work either. I tried putting it on Ventoy on a 128GB drive which I have used for Distro hopping before, NO GO! Failed boot; just sat there doing nothing! I installed IVentoy PXE and tried to boot it but it also failed boot! My desktop would not boot this at all. SO I got out my old Sony Vaio laptop, and put a new 256GB SSD in it and net booted from PXE, Success! I got the boot menu and was over-joyed! It took three hours to install! Finally it booted into C OS! It looks great. Slow as hell on that laptop so I shut it down & took out the SSD. I put the SSD in my desktop and it booted first time! MUCH FASTER on modern hardware. I tried the Vice C64 first and every game I tried gave me some kind of error, from 'Device Not Present' to 'Syntax' error in line 176. I could not anything to run! I got upset after all day trying to install & now the games don't work! I purged Vice and reinstalled! That worked for Vice, I transferred my ROM folder from my Backup USB drive which needed root because user 1000 was Commodore which was "access denied"! I had to use sudo mc to access anything than had to change the owner of all the ROMS! Just to get Vice working! BY that time it was 4 AM & my wife was complaining about me being up so late. BUT I was like a kid with a new toy and couldn't let it go till I got it to work. So after the forth or fifth reboot I got a few games to work and felt good enough to go to bed! Over all this was a nightmare that I wasn't going to give up on! I had to disable the animations (easy enough) because they just dragged along. I found most everything I wanted, installed my fav apps, another hour. It was worth it! After all that, finally in the morning my desktop booted to a beautiful system that worked! Amazing! I thank the developer for this great OS! (BUT it needs a better installer, 30+GB is insane!)

Well, this release was focused on being the base install for the C64x. Distribution considerations were secondary.
I intend to put out a lite version (Commodore OS 3.1?), which would allow you to install the games separately from a custom launcher hopefully later in the year.
You pretty much need to update immediately for some fixes I'm afraid.
As for vice, I hope you ran the Cloanto ROM set up from the Settings Manager which will download and set up the 8-bit ROMs for free.
