problems with blank discs

im not sure if this was a hardware or software issue

im using a dvd writer thats installed on my pc, and blank discs will not show up in the file manger, it supports dvd=r DL [which is what im using] and was able to load other prewritten dvds.

i want to burn things to these dvds so any help would be apprcieated.
