DirectX End User Runtime, VMWare Workstation Linux

I was reading the installation instructions for VMWare, and it states I should start the VM and install DirectX End User Runtime from Microsoft Downloads. I can't find a version of this software for Linux, which is what Commodore OS Vision is running under.

My other question is whether the Commodore OS Vision 3.0 is able to run under a Linux VMWare Workstation, or Windows VMWare Workstation only.

Hopefully someone on the forum can provide assistance.

I don't use VMware personally (and I'm reluctant to start yet another new thing), and I was grateful a forum contributor provided those instructions.
My preference would be to use VirtualBox wherever possible which I know works excellently (if you set it up right and give it enough resources!).

Vmware is now free for personal use. Not only that but imho it beats Virtualbox in 3d options wich some Windows programs do need, think even some games. Think about designspark mechanical. Reason some people want a small windows install is to run the oddball windows program that linux won't run in wine then wy not max compatibility?

On the other hand: It is totaly possible to get rid of VB and install VMware. I mean Commodore OS is not realy your typical small linux install anyway and thats fine. To get back to OP: Directx is a windows runtime. This means it should be installed in a emulated environment (windows) and not linux itself.

Oh, are you saying to include vmware in Commoodore OS?
Okay, I'll include it in the next version along with Qemu.
In the next version (COS3.1?) I'm hoping to have a lite version allowing practically everything to be optional and can be rolled back.

Hallos,
Having 3 systems that all do the same thing seems overkill. But who am i to say anything. If i am not mistaking is Vmware now free for
personal use and that pretty much does not mean free domain and that you can put it in a linux distro. I would first read their licence
information before adding it to prevent any legal stuff maybe even contact them beforhand.

On the other hand: noone can have any objections to a few links that installs it i think. But i am no expert....
