Commodore OS Tweaking

Post by LeoNigro »

Some reviews have commented that Commodore OS is perfect with a couple of modifications.
This is great to hear, but it makes me wonder what is actually the issue?
I imagine this has to do with removing some of the animations, in order for menus to be more responsive.

What modifications have you performed to tailor Commodore OS more to your liking?

I could make it an option on initial installation that you can pick from two or three different user desktop presets that change the experience.

Re: Commodore OS Quirks and tailoring

The preset idea sounds nice.

I have been playing with it a little bit (and yes I'm kinda new to linux) and haven't really modded it that much only crashed it several times. :)

Working with the cairo dock I have noticed it will, when adding certain programs, switch to a different program. The most recent was adding the command line program. I switched it to one of the Doom games which was actually kind of nice except I have wasted way to much time playing it.

Once again thank you for this OS!!!

Not much I can do about Cairo dock's behavior in COS3 I'm afraid, other than lock it down because configuring it can kill it practically irreversably.
I also found it crashes every so often, and even sometimes tries to run two instances.
I actually had to code something to either resuscitate it or kill instances (triggered when you open practically any app from the menu).
So, if you find yourself without the dock, run practically any app(from the top menu) and will return.

I guess, I could have written a process to run in the background....but that's just another thing.
